Military Oath

At our university, freshmen take a military oath known as the Territorial Troops Militia Oath Act (MTT). The main objective of this act is to train new generations in tasks of defense of the Homeland and to promote patriotic, ethical and moral values. During the ceremony, our students sign a commitment ratifying their responsibility to the Cuban nation and their trust in the Revolution, promising to defend every inch of the homeland against imperialist aggression, jealously guard military secrecy and strive to constantly raise their political preparation. -ideological. The minutes signed by the students are received by our university authorities, such as the rector or vice-chancellors. The constitution of the MTT in Higher Education centers is a voluntary act that makes clear the commitment of young people to the defense of the Revolution. This military oath is a symbolic and patriotic moment that marks the entry of students into the University Militias, a tradition that dates back to the creation of the José Antonio Echeverría University Brigade in 1959. It is an act that highlights the importance of the defense of the Homeland and the continuity of revolutionary values in new generations.

Here the said oath is presented to you:
I, a citizen of the Republic of Cuba, am aware that preparing and forming ranks for the defense of the Homeland, the work of socialism and the revolutionary power, constitute the most sacred of my duties. As Commander in Chief Fidel Castro has said, in our country every soldier is a revolutionary and every revolutionary is a SOLDIER. (WE SWEAR)

 I SWEAR
First: Fulfill the duties of Territorial Troops Militiaman.
Second: Give up part of my free time or my vacation for the preparation carried out by the Military Unit to which I belong, as well as to comply with the worker-student guard.
Third: Strive to constantly raise my political and ideological preparation, maintain a political and moral conduct that contributes to the prestige of the Territorial Troop Militias and reserve units; act at all times as a firm defender of the line of the Revolution drawn by the Communist Party of Cuba.
Fourth: Defend every inch of the homeland against imperialist aggression. Not giving the invader a minute's respite, annihilating him relentlessly by any means, day or night, wherever I am, fighting until the last enemy is eliminated, as Céspedes and Agramonte, Martí, Maceo and Gómez did, Mella y Guiteras, Camilo, Ché, as Fidel taught us.
